Since lots of people are still coming here confused about the project's future, I'll put this out on the dev's behalf since he never bothered posting it here on Itch (I don't know why he didn't, that was a strategic error on his part if you ask me)

This game is essentially on indefinite hiatus right now, owing to the developer receiving a full-time job offer which he announced about one year ago now, in the summer of 2024. In said post, he declared that he'd had a great time working on this but just couldn't financially justify not taking the job, and that he felt there'd be no way for him to keep working full time and also produce Evermore at a pace or quality level he was comfortable releasing.

He also announced, however, that he was planning to continue Evermore eventually, but in another medium (probably just text only format) this time, rather than visual novel. That's what the latest announcement, from September 2024, is about. Hope anyone revisiting this page, or visiting for the first time, who are confused about what's going on here, finds this helpful.

P.S. I'm not associated with the dev or anything, I was just passing through and figured some people might wanna know this stuff so I decided to throw this out there on my own, don't expect any more answers or details about this from me

The projects future is easy enough to understand, as there is no future for this project.  It's been abandoned and is now a dead project.  Dead projects do not have futures, do not get updated, etc. etc.

Devs post this kind of drivel that it's coming back, they'll start it up again as something else, blah blah blah, so they can continue milking the shit out of the ignorant patrons who will stay signed up for it and waiting.

Except he closed the patreon. It's now a matter if it comes back great, if not oh well. He didn't feel comfortable with collecting money for it in the mean time

He actually did not close the Patreon. I just checked it out and despite it being so long it says he still has 45 paid members. Even at the bare minimum of $2.50 a month that is $112.50 of free money each month.

Odd, i could have swore there was a post on it. Thanks for checking it

Well now he is back and all that we can see is he back and continuing the story thats all that matters to me.

no he killed it thinking people would rather have it in a novel format than a VN format, which clearly the comments are already starting to show his descision is not a welcome one.  so no evermore isnt on hiatus anymore it is dead and buried.
