I suppose that If you are not using an iPhone, you must first download from itch.io and then download the remaining content within the app/game. I believe there are certain types of archives, such as APK files, that have size limitations either generally or on this site, Or maybe they just want to make sure there aren’t any corrupted files after installing.
It's not too hard, but in android since it uses a port you can't get out of the app while installing, But i’m just talking about my experience when I first set it up.
