How did you make the original DtD?  Those kind of series always amaze me!

I built almost the whole thing in the PS1 version of RPG Maker from summer 2012 to spring 2014, and then after casting some actors I played through it and put the lines over top. This was an extremely difficult process as I had to play with no mistakes and memorize the exact length of everybody's lines until about 10 episodes in where I had the brilliant idea of just dubbing in the music and sound effects later so I could edit the footage however I wanted.

The underlying 'game' is fully playable minus random encounters/experience points. The shops have items, the switches/event flags work, all the NPCs have dialogue even if I never talk to them in the show, etc. I fell into the RPG Maker trap of making a game but not touching the battle system all that much. Many such cases!
