I still haven’t figured out how to best implement it.
- I want to keep the time frame of the game limited to about 3-4 ingame months, so full pregnancy cycles and giving birth is out of the window. It’d bloat up the scope of the game too much and then I need so much other content that playing for 9 ingame months is worth bothering with
- Magically accelerated pregnancies might be a way out? Not sure how the mechanics would look like, and what they’d mean for characters like Sarah
- Adding more ending variations is definitely on the table, though that’ll lead to some interesting paths: Endings heavily imply the MC choosing their romantic interest as the tome’s recipient, so what does it say about the MC if they get pregnant by one and give the tome to another? Or get pregnant by a random stranger?
- Related to the game scope concerns above, fully committed relationships are gonna be left for endings (Sarah’s stretching it, and other things, dohoho); so even if you magic up a baby in a month, how’s that gonna affect all the character interactions?
- Abortion-related content is gonna be… unfun, so I’d rather not touch that
- I’m still not sure if sacrificing fetuses in demonic rites is going to be even worse, or a good reminder that demons are not nice people
So, not really ruled out yet, but I’m still not sure how to best approach it.
