From one dev to another, some unsolicited advice: It may make sense for you to make multiple smaller games instead of working solely on Delta Gal. Small games are easier to finish, and you may find it more motivating when you have more things "out there" rather than one thing you've been working on in private, plus they'd give you more experience that you could then bring back to Delta Gal.
Whatever you work on, I'll be interested to see. I'd never played Mega Man Legends, but the demo pulled me in with its art style and I thought it was a lot of fun, and I'm glad you haven't given up on it.
