You're right about most things! Neither Milo nor T were ever meant to be perfect - more so, I think it's more interesting to have characters that are flawed in certain ways (like the way Milo sometimes does the opposite of what they say). And though both have their faults, in the end, I believe Q would be happy with either of them, so it's down to preference.
One thing I will say, though, I think Milo's reaction to Q's past is absolutely warranted when you consider that they didn't know what Q had been through, OR the realities of life in the Organization. And looking from an ordinary person's perspective, none of that is normal and WOULD be scary and hard to accept. (But they do accept it in the end! And that speaks about them more than their initial reaction IMO 😊)
