Tried it for several runs, incredibly satisfying movement, I think that was intended as main gameplay feature. If so (and if you plan to continue working on this one-week challange project), I'd recommend to implement some features that are directly connected with movement. Easiest of them that instantly come to my mind are:
1. Remove "shooting affects momentum" mechaninc - movement is very satisfying, so it's sad that shooting is stopping character mid-air
2. Add ways to save momentum mid-air - after dashing character's speed falling down to default falling very fast, so only good way to save momentum is to consatnly dash
Overall, it's pretty interesting and satisfying game, especially for 1 week time of work. Good job!

As you guessed, this game isn’t really meant to evolve much beyond what it already is.
But I’ll definitely check a few things based on your suggestions!
Both seem pretty doable and shouldn’t interfere with the other parts of the gameplay :)
