I've had this issue a couple of times but when I try to open the game again it closes instantly and if I uninstall it deleted all my progress.

Unfortunately it's a common problem, but the solution is quite simple, just go into your app settings and clear the games cache, this should help with the issue without the need for you to uninstall the game.
