.....not gonna lie: Shocked there are no discussions here thus far with 2 chapters out. And I thought I was late to the party lol
WELL: I just finished chap 2 in the public release and I have to say -- Holy Sh** - - hands down some of the best NSFW/explicit scene writing I've seen in an IF. Like: my GOD -- it felt like I was an ADULT reading something made for an ADULT. Accept my standing ovation you cannot hear. Deliciously detailed, gratuitous in length (thank you very much~) and just plain Hot. Especially for F/F content; because in this house, we stan/actively ignore a Maxine for the lawls. F you for it all being a dream, tho. You got me. Not even mad. haha Though, to be fair, I didn't expect Max to be behind that door. SURELY, le author wouldn't give us the good goods so early in the story~? And since Ivy-Rose is my new adopted child, I would have been just as happy getting a scene where we comfort baby after a nightmare given the day's cray events....
Besides feeling obligated to tell you how well you write sex -- you've really sold me on the entire concept. I was instantly intrigued with stolen identity/Desperation bit; and wondered if Max would be like it is now: them knowing we're a fraud from jump or us having to actively deceive them (buh - what I didn't plan on - - was falling in Luuuuurve)/keep up the illusion. Both are fun, though it's def interesting having your biggest adversary also be a Full ass accomplice at this point.
Admittedly: also hard for me to get into stories where the MC is obviously besotted with [chosen LI] before I, as a reader, fall for them. (There's some serious Soulmatism up in hurr) Still Screaming at my baby love MC to KEEP HER MF-ing GUARD UP -- but flowers because I legit felt the attraction/butterflies MC does whenever Max chooses to actually be a decent human being. I also like that my MC is TRYING with a capital 'T' to actually get a grip/not so basic they don't constant remember how much is at stake here. They get a few wins in a game Very Much stacked against them, and I appreciate that. There's still too much of a power imbalance for me to be perfectly at ease with the idea of those two together (and - dammit, that dream really showed how much MC wants/needs/craves a Max to admit how much they're Feeling this too, huh...?) - still. I'm enjoying the ride. I have spotted the little tells Max is affected, whether they like it or not....
Wish I could support on Patreon (and get that next chapter), but at very least I hope these words/good vibes provide a bit of joy from those of us grateful to get a free version. ❤️
