This was a very good read all around! The story idea and character choices made things even more interesting as the novel went on. The white-on-black handdrawn portraits add a lot (the pen continues to get its glory, heh), backgrounds are chosen well, and the music complements the scenes. (I'm very intrigued by the excellent use of MuseScore 4.)
Some pieces of writing feel like they might get lost in translation, but it doesn't get in the way of the story. In fact, the cryptic feel actually adds to it in its own way.
Overall, I can see that you put a lot of work into this, and it shows. Well done!My IQ is a little too lukewarm for this frosty frosty VN (/pos)
Well, I am surprised, extremely so, that I enjoyed the read *that* much,
Nerdy talks from school teachers and students, and a very believable love-story, kept me going!
The way the world-building and the character-building was done in this few chapters, with no beat missed, is just masterful!
It is somewhat cryptic at the beginning but the music selection, the backgrounds and the adorable but minimalist black and white portraits build this beautiful atmosphere that made me very curious to see how things were going to develop.
It really felt like I was just just peeking into the everyday of the characters without falling into the popular tropes of what every character does, or feeling as a one note or a caricature (which a lot of times works perfectly fine in touhou hahaha) but here it really felt organic. I felt they didn't care if I understood a thing hahaha they were just minding their own business regardless. I don't know if maybe there were to many references to many things but... I've been with friends who talk about things I know nothing; and I am a Touhou fan so sometimes it feels... like this, so I guess it is Karma somehow.
Favorite parts: Even so, the resolution of the story is very charming, I love seeing new characters being introduced and feeling that there's always things happening in Gensokyo in every corner always tickles my brain and I adore that. (The vibes are are really cool!)
very enchanting story! it's great how it takes a location in gensokyo to explore lives of "smaller" characters like humans. also the notebook was adorable. made me smile :D
