How do you trigger th Meta Sith Formula side quest? I already know how to get the Graul Scale. Is that side quest important?

Yes, it is. It will make the battle to Warlord (Arihama) a bit easier and you will amass EXPERIENCE for your mc. Equipments will add to your mc stats, so you can kill the boss efficiently, Pills that can be hoarded from the through Galactic Union (GU) Missions. It will shorten the amount of times battling the Warlord, mitigating impacts of anyone dying from the same battle.
SPOILER some of the crew members will die. e.g. Hakkon (The Subguhnir Alpha, if you choose to hire him in Akra), Bradley (if you didn't gotten to the side quest) NPC: such as Riordan (can die too if you choose let him join in the battle).
NOTE: They will not, if you didn't make the battle for a longer amount of time. Or you choose to exclude them, like Rylan (due to his brother's wishes) or Hakkon.
Bradley's chance to die is from prolonging from the battle or not doing the side quest too.
(If you killed the Subguhnir Alpha at Akra, you cannot have him (Hakkon))
Trigger the side quest would be if you already talked Bradley after he came back a day after meeting the Sithyryan Council. (Wait a day). Then there is a "killing the warlord" conversation. Wherein Bradley will talk about his punishment and he will proceed to relay the side quest to you in the same conversation.
Partly, but you can also go to the boss fight too (if you want to sacrifice Bradley which is most likely due to not finishing the meta-sith side quest.) It will cement the impact on your crew members in later. But in lore aspect, all of your crew hate Bradley too.
There is a high chance that Rylan and other not powerful characters would die. But Feraldo and Skru'Vaks would not (cause they will flee in the battle if your crew dies in the event.)
They weren't required but yeah, side quest is needed in order to build mc's stats and team stats. Don't be afraid no month, day or time cycle mechanic that kills the character... But the duration of the boss battle will likely kill some of them as I stated above (my own game experience). It is highly recommended, that you kill Arihama (the Warlord) in short shots so no dying character will deducted from the roost of crew members.
Though R.I.P to my Hakkon... his sacrifice will never be in vain.😭😭
You can arouse Arihama like every enemy, Arihama's HP is 7500 and lust bar is 300 But filling the lust bar only LURES the enemy turn to focus on your main character so your rooster of the frontline crew will damage it slowly.
Teasing him and filling the LUST BAR also will NOT make Arihama die or be defeated. You need to damage him through series of attack, skill, and item damage (the highest is from the item from the side quest).
Only the mc can give higher dose of damage.
Note: Arihama will rise again after FIRST DEFEAT. The best way to defeat it without the frontline crew being killed is to damage and defeat Arihama in the shortest amount of turn possible.
Note: In that battle, you can only control the MC. The crew will attack synonimously in the boss battle event. They will employ strategies depending on what you choose them to do.
Skru'Vaks - can be offensive or defensive (lore chosen by you). This character will not die along with Feraldo who choose to flee if the battle prolongs.
Hakkon - can join or not (depends on your choice) (this character is the most likely to die in prolong event of the battle.)
Riordan (NPC) - can join (depending on your conversations with him.)
Bradley - (he is part of the auto-frontline, the less you do the side quest, the higher chance of him dying)
Rylan (Theoretically) - since you can kill him in the event prior to fight Bradley (Pirate Main Quest). He is killable. (Likely, he could die in the prolong battle with Arihama.)
Cicero (Theoretically) - he was considered the weakest by the game's lore, and according to Arthur and Bradley.
Phoenix (Theoretically) - another hired crew on Akra. A cyborg. (theoretically could also die in that fight.)
Non-fighting crew were, Katari, Alastor, Arthur, Sammuel... (so they were safe to say the least.)
I'm almost done with the side quest, you said in order to trigger the Meta Sith Formula I have to talked Bradley after he came back a day after meeting the Sithyryan Council. Is the Meta Sith you're talking about is the side quest where we catch the demon, extract his essence to make a bomb similar to defeating Bradley? The red bomb?
That same item, yes that's the one. Yeah there are conversation that will have choices before you ever coming to battle Arihama. But the key is fighting the boss battle in a short amount of time (meaning your MC need to be highly damaging), the red bomb will have QUARTER of the Arihama's health. Good luck.
