I'm a moron, I have read the whole when the Empress dies sentence so many times.. and it still surprised me when it happened.
I think it just means you were so absorbed in the story and its happenings that you forgot what was on the horizon is all. I haven't played yet, but I'm taking this as a good sign the story is immersive and engaging LOL!
