Heya! I played your games so here's my review :D

First of all, I do like the pixel art, the colours are nice and saturated.

I do wish the trees or something looked different around the shack, so it'd look more omnious than just the light dimming. But it's a very short game jam, so I totally understand why it'd be difficult to make more assets!

The game runs nicely, no crash or anything, which is great! I did manage to get easily out of bonds though, as the trees are too far away from each other to properly stop the player from passing them.

Also the map is pretty big considering there's nothing to interact with or see, outside of the shack. The looping structure of the map (always bringing you back to the shack) could be a great idea if you added more NPCs or details to see in the future (maybe foreshadowing for the story?). Or you could add an ending where you just nope out of story altogether, those are always funny.

Maybe it'd make more sense if the guy telling you about the friendship club disappearances wasn't the same guy asking you to go get his sister? It felt a bit like "this is the meat grinder, it grinds meat. Hey, btw, can you get inside the meat grinder real quick bro, trust me, it's so safe haha".

It could be: guy asks you to get his sister, he's been told she's hanging out in the shack with a bunch of weirdos. Then you meet another NPC that's like "uuuuh maybe don't go there, people go in and never leave". This way you don't change the story you created, but it feels more believable.

I liked the dialogues in general, the roach line made me chuckle. It's missing a few punctuation marks at times, but it's not an issue. Maybe I'd rephrase "the cat with curiosity" as "the curious cat"?

I think this basement door is broken however as it just sends you back to the beginning of the basement. When the ???? NPC accuses you of seeing something, since you didn't see anything, it feels like a scene's missing. If you want it to be ambiguous and for the player to not know what was down there, maybe you can add dialogue for the player character? Maybe have him say something like "Wait, I didn't see anything, what do you mean?" or something.

The ending with the game quitting by itself is a classic and it always feels cool.

Either way, congrats on finishing a game in such a short time! Great job.

Hey! Thanks for reviewing the game! I worked along with the main dev on this so it was pretty fun! I do hope to work on this in the future so we can complete the whole game and fix all the bugs 😅
