Okay, so I went and looked at Chrome Music Lab so I could see what you're working with. It seems like you only have one real instrument and a couple of drums. So this was a real challenge, nice attempt. One thing you can do is make different lines with different note 'lengths' to treat them like different instruments and mostly lock each of them to one scale. Without getting into theory, you can also save and go into chromatic mode and try lowering all of the notes of one color in a section by one. Here's something  I put together as an example using arpeggiated chords in the base:

What I'd really recommend if you want to go a bit deeper, without jumping off into DAWs like LMMS, or FL, is to try out Bosca Ceoil. It's free and even available on Steam.

oh wow that looks so neat! Yeah, CML is pretty super basic, but it has a tempo I dig. It reminds me of Pokemon/Nintendo games and their once basic tunes. Now of course it's much more invigorating, but back in THE DAY (I say, waving a cane around), it was nice to have a little bopping tune you could easily hum along to.

I'll give Bosca a try and see what I can come up with as well! Thank you!

XD. I was quite a fan of the music in Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest 1) on the original NES, and my brother could never stand it XD. (Although it did have proper held notes and more instruments!) Hope you have fun with Bosca Ceoil, I used it for game menu music for a Ludum Dare some time ago before I moved to LMMS (and eventually to FL). Good luck!
