I'm not sure where you heard that but what i heard was quite a bit different. From what i heard, the Godot mods/devs went insane and started blocking hundreds of people over some tweet Godot made supporting racism/sexism, even people just asking for the focus to be on the engine. Hell they even started blocking people who were actively financially supporting them. The people still working on Godot are some of the most toxic people I've ever seen. I mean Xananax alone is enough to want to distance oneself from Godot. Not sure how good of a game engine political zealots and racists/sexist can make and i personally wouldn't want to invest time and money in Godot if i knew it was being run by such unhinged people.

Proof of mass blocking and racism/sexism:

Redot wasn't made as a "revenge fork" but as a more reliable and trustworthy alternative to Godot because Godot stopped fulfilling their promise and because people want to use a game engine that doesn't focus more on drama and prejudice than it does and making a functional and poitically free game engine.

Proof of political propaganda, gaslighting and hateful behavior:

Again i don't believe Godot has higher motivation and it's clear the people supporting Redot are more motivated by game design instead of political activism. If i were going to sink my own time and money into making a game, I'd want a game engine i can trust and rely on, one that isn't "politics first".

Anyway, i hope this cleared up the confusion and misinformation. Avoid Godot at all costs.

I wouldnt necessarily call that proof, as it is possibly the second most biased source possible for this topic, and a good deal of the things he/she said are either dubious or a bit out of context (although even I struggle to understand why they decided to say such things)
regardless, certain individuals clearly made poor choices, lost control of the situation, and failed to remain neutral. Whether or not you choose to continue to use the original is up to you, as is the spirit of open source projects. I don't necessarily believe that a person's political, moral standing greatly affects their ability to make a game engine (unless its epic) I personally always try to keep the art separate from the artist, so I will continue to use godot until an alternative is practically better for me. You could argue that its a moral obligation to not support an engine ran by those of lesser morals, however I am too selfish to harm myself by choosing an engine i deem worse just to also harm those who made it

All that being said in the most neutral way i could, it appears that godot has been absolutely fcked by mentally-unstable people who may have reached their breaking point recently. Juan has made a massive mistake by letting some of the most disagreeable people imaginable take the public roles in the community.

the racist piece of _ on the discord is entirely unrelated to the whole issue. that is not an official server, despite being the largest. yes he can block people from that unofficial server, but he is effectively playing king over a unofficial server, pretending he is official and part of the team. They dont have any control over that server, cannot control it or his actions, and in the same way, he has no control over official godot actions. Their second mistake was allowing this unofficial server to exist, instead of striking it, demanding it be removed, and replacing it with their official server, which they could’ve prevented a maggot racist from being admin on.

I genuinely see little proof that the actual developers of godot (except maybe one or two) are the immoral ones though, and fixing this problem seems like a quick deal of firing the offenders. fck them, but im going to keep using godot until there is a better option.

Huh? I mean, everything he said is citable sooo...

That's fair. Though i do genuinely believe that Redot is a better engine, and that the more people who switch to it the more attention it gets and the more it gets worked on.

To my knowledge, said offenders are still employed. Make of that what you will.

Anyway, i just wanted to clear the record concerning Redot. I do hope you switch to it someday or at least experiment around with it but if you don't then that's your choice. Either way I'm still looking forward to the full release of wizard tower here on Itch and lumberjacked ^_^

Have you started the game yet or are you waiting for Darri to release the full version?

Yea i finished the version they have on here. pretty fun. Someone lmk when the full release is out so i dont forget about it
