When I faced the choice of whether to kiss Anne, I picked the wrong option in that atmosphere, and the consequence was a night full of nightmares in my real life: those eyes in the upper right corner watched me read through all the text. The oppressive feeling peaked when it demanded I input words. I thought writing one sentence would end it, but the terrifying visuals that followed left me utterly speechless, hearing only my own frantic heartbeat. That scene was utterly terrifying, especially coming after all those cozy scenes! Would it be possible to add subtle hints near choices that might lead to such a strong tonal shift? Or is this unsettling feeling actually a fundamental part of the story's truth?

After everything in the story up to that point I think it is safe to say "unsettling" is what the story is going for.
