The orange heart next to a character means she'll get the "Lady of the Night" bonus for the next dive, doubling all relationship points she'll earn. You can see it in her stats there.
And when a notification shows Margaret, it means you've unlocked an extra scene from Margaret's point of view. You can see them when talking to Margaret, then "Margaret's Memories" or by clicking the "Extra" button in the main menu.
