I really love the writing and story of this IF, it's one of my favorites, but the UI is just really...not great. That next button is terrifyingly close to that restart button. A restart button that has no confirmation and for some reason deletes all saves as well, and since there's no way to even export saves, it's like constantly playing fat finger Russian roulette. It's not going to stop me from reading, but I really do wish it was one of the standard IF templates.
Are you playing on mobile? I'm playing (at work lol) on a computer, and my next button is by the saves. 
As the poster above me mentioned, it's just a matter of screen size. I have it set to adjust depending on the size of the screen but if it's a slightly larger or small phone than average, or a tablet or something like that then I unfortunately have little control over how it displays. I can try to make some micro adjustments later tonight but without specifics there's only so much I can do.
I don't use the programming language most common among Twine games. There's no save export and the layout isn't standard because this is all custom programmed by me. I started using Twine back in 2017 and taught myself to use it so it is what it is. I do not use templates, standard or otherwise.
