Short answer: yes.
100% transparent long answer: there is a doc on my computer called "MURDER BALLET 2E" with some drastic improvements to the core mechanics. It speeds up gameplay, axes the dependence on a grid, and codifies the "rock-paper-scissors" interaction accidentally loosely built into the original's combat (Melee/Executions beat Armor but are weak vs. Tough, deadly weapons beat Tough but are weak vs Dodge, blast/burst weapons beat Dodge, but are weak against Armor).
It's not far along enough for me to confidently give any kind of release schedule, though.
