I will say, to balance out all my gushing, that there's at least one thing that's lacking a little bit, and it's level variety--there's a slight difference in size/shape between Blanche and Fabienne's rooms, but a little bit of spice might be nice: more obstacles than just the looming foot, like, say, stray clothing (maybe footwear, like the big sneaks n socks that Reine is wearing <.<), wires, trash that missed the wastebin, etc (probably not Fabienne's thing, if anyone so far is a neat freak it's definitely her).

Of course this game is still being made, and the Variant menu option already shows you're thinking of changing stuff up for each Beastie level, so you probably had that idea already and I'm just yammering about the obvious :P

I'm so happy that you've enjoyed the game so much, it means a lot! I'm planning on releasing a small update next week, but after that's out I'll get to work on Reine 100%.

I'm not sure if I'll end up making stage obstacles, at least for the current lineup. But it's a good possibility for future Beasties!

Also, since you asked about Patreon, it's completely optional and the game will always be free! But yes, a link is on the title screen :p

Hello Rosie-Shady, nice work on the game so far. Brings me memories of Shrink High for sure.

I noticed a little oddity when the game starts and they begin to attack you: Sometimes they... purposefully...? miss their stomps, which is kind of interesting. I think you could add a bit of dialogue with that event as a feature. A few situations come to mind:

  1. A stomp lands anywhere, but you haven't moved since the game started.
  2. A stomp lands on you, still without any movement from your part.
  3. A stomp is going to miss on purpose, but you move and get under it to make sure it hits you.
  4. You've been dodging successfully, but as the lines from the Beasties showing their frustration come through, you end up remaining still. Perhaps the Beastie could notice you are behaving odd from all sudden. They could hesitate to stomp again (maybe the foot twitches a bit, or the stomp takes longer to happen) and dialogue lines happen before the stomp lands.

Lines of dialogue could build up as this keeps happening on a chain, and maybe even give a bit of a different ending cut-scene too if you die with those conditions, as if the Beasties noticed you were acting in such odd way. Even the fight variants could make use of this detail and would help showing their personalities further.

Hey, I'm really happy you enjoyed the game!

The way that the Beasties target your character is that they'll get your position, add your speed as a predictive measure and then add a randomness factor. This last part can make the Beastie miss on their own at pretty much any difficulty, but can catch you off guard if you don't react correctly. This isn't the Beastie missing on purpose however, it's just that they made a mistake!

I am not currently happy with how the in-game dialogue works, since it's very simple (there's only lines for missing, hitting and reaching a higher difficulty) and Beasties don't have that many lines. So I might be able to implement some of your ideas, especially if it's noticeable that you're just trying to get stomped. But it's something I'd have to think about!
