well, she didn't die! it's a political game and you gotta read between the lines.

(dont read below if you havent played!!!)

first of all, even if you read it literally, you have an open ending with three contradictory rumors:  (1) she died, (2) she is too fat to move out of her bedroom, (3) she became known as a law giver. thus, what actually happened depends on the imagination of the player -- even at the most literal level

now, if you think carefully, there is only one likely ending, without much ambiguity. (1) and (2) cannot coexist. (2) is far more likely because she is just a puppet queen for the magician, and the magician has no reason to kill her because the magician likes fat girls. thus, (1) is only an untrue rumor that comes out of the fact that "she was never seen again in public" and hence the rumor -- given she is the head of the state, you have rumors everyday. now, where does (3) come from? it must be what the magician has done in the future because (a) only the magician has the interest in making people fat, and (b) she is a puppet and too fat to rule

thus, here is the real ending if you have read and thought through the politics carefully: she is a puppet of the magician, and became too fat to leave her room. the magician took control over the kingdom and passed a bunch of laws to make people fat, thats it!
