Hi, I recently purchased Eclipse and was wondering if there’s any way to access previous versions of the engine.
I was expecting performance similar to the demo, but the latest build (which was the only available download after purchase) runs significantly heavier on my laptop.

I understand a dedicated GPU is recommended, but I thought it was worth asking considering others may experience the same.
Thank you!

I don't really have any older builds like that.

However, it is very unlikely that you will find any significant difference in performance between the two. The biggest performance setting you can probably use is hard shadows, as soft shadows cost more and use more texture slots.

If you notice better performance in the demos, that is likely because they are compiled with YYC, and when you run Eclipse in the IDE you may only be using VM. The performance difference is massive between the two, and you should first try running with YYC and see the difference.

At the end of the day, the engine is doing PBR lighting which needs a dedicated GPU for many reasons.

Understood, thank you for your answer.
YYC version has given me not much of a difference, but it's ok, I was aware of the GPU requirement.
Still, the engine is great, and looking forward to use it

That is odd as YYC is many magnitudes faster.

Without a dedicated GPU there are common compromises that we see in many games and on different platforms. Like running 30 FPS at a lower resolution. Going for 60 FPS at 1080p or high simply needs more power for each pixel, especially at the current sample rate used by the PBR shaders.
