The arrow keys are supposed to basically hurl you in the direction you pressed. If that doesn't happen, there is some sort of issue. I've had a few people try the game, some even through Wine, and it worked correctly for most of them except for one person, who reported inconsistent input dropping. I don't really know if I could do anything to fix that.
