This was a blast to read, but probably for all the wrong reasons. 'Escort' is a crazy ride from start to finish, with every turn being a left one. I mean this as a compliment when I say this reminds me a lot of John Waters' work, with the absolute blatant degeneracy and willingness to treat absurd scenarios with sincerity. In a way, I felt like this could also be interpreted as a commentary on sex-work, to which even escorts should be afforded a level of dignity to perform a job like that. I feel like that might be a generous take on what is essentially a fetish story around 'clothed-male-nude-male' shenanigans, but I'd like to give it praise where it's due.

As a fellow CMNM enjoyer, the first act was super fun to read. The direction of the scenes and the boldness of the sex-act choices were great. From the CBT, impact play, food play, and public indecency, it was a wide variety of sexual acts and great use of drawn images, use of the provided sprites, and Ren'py animations that is not as easy as it looks (shout out to the golfing scene). That's for sure why I'm giving this a 5 star in presentation. The little details really boost the immersion.

In terms of striving for a full on CMNM fantasy, it really succeeded in the first act, which is why it surprised me how the plot took a turn for the wholesome in the second act and the tour/date around Japan. I understand the want to make a contrast between a toxic dom and a respectful friend/boyfriend, but it inadvertently paints the concept of masters as toxic, when there's an opportunity to portray a master/sub dynamic in a healthier way. But then again, I respect the author's intent that this isn't that type of story, and is more about a main character with a savior complex and living out that kind of sex/power fantasy.

Of which, this is definitely a power fantasy fulfillment type of story. There's a commitment to making the characters as unlikable as possible, which is laudable, since it really adds to the enjoyment in a sort of twisted comedic way. While I appreciate the foreshadowing to the twist at the end, the commentary and justification around it was way more of a shocker than the twist itself. I don't think either character really had that much of an arc in the end, and that's okay.

Getting back to the overall implementation of the theme of "Light in the Dark", while the letter at the end of the story spells it out, it really doesn't seem to reflect it in the narrative itself. From a practical standpoint, neither character seems to be in a significantly better position from where they started. It seems that the wolf overcame something emotionally, but I'm not sure what, so I don't think it's stuck to the theme as well as it could have. That being said, I had a fun time with it, and if you've got the mental fortitude or experience with humiliation kinks, this is a very amusing and enjoyable experience.

I’m glad you enjoyed all those kinky scenes!

And yeah the twist at the end was meant to keep the roller-coaster of emotions through all the vn, but i understand that more foreshadowing wouldn’t hurt.

About the theme, you are right, they don’t seem to end up in a better place from what they start, but it was still a brief light in the dark. Their happiness lasts as fast as light’s speed. For both mc and Brutus, the light was the happiness of experiencing friendship, and for the wolf it was also his revenge.

Anyway thanks for reading it and for your constructive comment Fuzedude!
