If you’re using the Cairn 2e wilderness procedures, you would roll on the wilderness events table after each Watch. If you roll a 1, you can either make up an encounter, or you can refer to the encounter table included in the adventure.

Thanks for replying! :)
There are no watches on this adventure, because the distances are short. There is a sentence indicating not to use the wilderness event table and use the random encounter table provided instead, but no indication on when to use it. We played last night, I chose to roll every time the players were travelling (only 1 of the 6 encounters is combat, the rest is other peaceful travelers on the roads), and it was fine, maybe that was the original intention.

Oh yes, that’s right! It’s been about a year since I’d run this. Yes I would roll once per travel between two points, and twice at night.

Thanks! :) That was our first try of Cairn last night, the players and I liked it very much and we loved the random characters rolled. One player had bad stats, but very interesting gears (rolled a Hexenbane able to take his limbs apart with a spell, she had fun!)

Awesome!

I’m gonna update the table to make this more clear. Thanks!
