I just went through and played the top games—yours is still one of my favourites. I think what may have let you down is that you never fully get overpowered. I kept increasing speed and was never quite fast enough. I know balancing is hard in these games—try a test where you double the damage on everything and see how it plays.
My team and I are probably going to make a proper Steam game after this jam, and yours is definitely an influence on the type of game we want to make. "20 Mins 'til Dawn" is still my favourite game.
