I usually don't like these type of games but that catched my eyes.
I like that you have to try it a few times before you start to understand why are you doing that you do. (My first try was 3 seconds long but the last one I almost seen all part of the map with a Buggy unit)
The sounds could be more different and a little music would make it better. Maybe it could reactive to what happening at the moment. (Just gathering, building and creating units: something slower music to help you thinking what is your next goal; you are in the middle of a fight: more intense music to feel the heat of the guns)
I struggled a lot with the camera, it would be nice if you could move freely or lock on a targeted unit(s). Or the best that if you could choose from these options.
One of the biggest problems (of mine) that if I click on a unit I don't see at the bottom right corner (or elsewhere): (1) That what type of unit is it and (2) how much health does it have at the moment. (Yes I know that every unit has a small health bar under them but it get easlily lost when you in the middle of action). But it is positive for me that those characters who gather sources are visible the type of the building where you can make more of them.
The "suicide" option could get different names:
- On different type of unit is it okay
- On different type of buildings it would be better if you call it "destruct" or something similar
- On the base/HQ it would be a better choice to call it "give up" or something similar to make it more clear
If I mention this I have to say a few words about that you could turn on/off buildings (for example the Tesla) it would be nice to make the electric economy part of the game a bit more playful.
About the economy, I sometimes struggled with the amount of the material that I found (but that could be me who caused that).
During one of my tries I found a treasure chest (or something like that) and it gave a bonus (maybe bonus damage percentage if I remember well). That was nice, but it would be better if the map would be a bit more alive. For example that treasure chest is a great start and sometimes meteors hit the ground (or my units/buildings) but that map could hold more on it's back.
But against all of that I would recommend to prefer the units development.
- It would be nice if you could upgrade them specifically
- Maybe you would be able to create a groupe of units and mark a more experienced one to lead that groupe
- Later could be not unite like characters/heroes who still act without the player and a bit more intelligent or clever BUT if a player controls this character could use it's skills (if it has) better or more efficiently
Maybe later a multiplayer version if the base idea deveoped enough.
That's all that comes my mind. I hope that this game will grow out itself as the time flies.
See you next time folks!
