I think this is my favorite entry at this jam!
Things that I especially enjoyed:
- The overall plot and setting of the game. It was so convincing! I totally believed in everything that happened and all the problems that the society in general and the characters in particular;
- The illustrations, most of all Shrubwell himself and the Corn. Adorable!
- How the game gives you time to get used to the role of a judge and gives you various facts and evidence for you to make a decision yourself. You do not just follow the game plot, you play a crucial role in the game plot.
- Clicking on the corn (Corn.)
- How your personality defines your investigating and communicating style (I played a couple of times and found out there are personalities that can, for example, investigate Mana crystals or check the inside of the house. But I wasn't able to notice what the perks of being a lawful (sorry I forgot names of personalities, the ones that do not know about mana and cannot peek inside the house) judge were! Could you please give me some insight? :D)
- How the game is actually long and consists of several parts. Feels like a play in several acts! And the tasks are various and you do not get tired of doing them.
- The corn poster. Flirty!
Things that I want to give some feedback on:
- Texts length. I've played the game a couple (or more, because I couldn't reach the desired ending) of times, and at first it was a bit overwhelming to get through all the texts, expecially during the personality test! There was too much to do at the same time: go through the history of the workd, find my own place in it and shape my attitude to everything that happened. I think it would be a bit easier it the immersion were a bit more gradual or if the personality test would be short and there was another way to go through the world's history, for example. Sometimes the dialogues were quite wordy, but there was no specific reason for it: it felt like if they were 2 times shorter I wouldn't lose that much (it was especially clear before the actual gameplay of the game started, like while grabbing a file).
- Replayability. As there were several personalities and several endings, I tried to play the game several times. It was a bit tiring after a couple of playthroughs :D Especially as it was hard for me to remember how do I get the certain personality :D It would be maybe cool if you play the game not for the first time to have an opportunity to skip some sections, for example. Sometimes I made wrong choices right in the end of the game and had to replay just to change one small thing in the very end x)
- Personalities. As I understood, different ones have different advantages and disadvantages. At first I thought that if I get the information about the real criminal, I would have additional piece of the gameplay (it looked like that because of what my character was saying). But as far as I saw, if I get everything right and explore the mana crystals and the emblem, I would only get additional information in the credits? I was very sad that I couldn't investigate that part too!
- Credits. They look very nice, but I would love to have a possibility to stop them or move them at my own pace as sometimes I wasn't able to read them fast enough or needed some time to stop and think about it :D
All in all, I had lots of fun. Thank you!
