I would recommend having them try installing the gconf2 dependency manually - it seems like newer Linux Mint versions don’t come with it pre-installed. Some searches online mention people finding it through archive links, but I don’t know enough about linux distros to give a more detailed instruction.

The second error seems more difficult to diagnose, so I would follow the first thread for now.
