I spent a lot of time on this one, and i'll try my best to weave in spoiler protection.
As per all narrative games, we must start with the writing. And it is pure quality. From the moving descriptions of the location, the intriguing back stories of the characters... it is leagues above what is expected of a 9 day jam. The copious amount of material buried in this gem!
And its a deceptively deep coded project too! I was surprised to read from Tan Su, weeks after leaving Kar, a reminder about what happened in that village. There's quite a bit of mechanics as well! From distance management, truth and trust management, and even a pseudo inventory. I really liked the chronological progression of this game.
The ambience set is also set incredibly well. The oriental music, the art style of the characters, and even the mood inferred from conversations with town people. Everything was spot on.
My only nitpick was that cut scenes seem to still show characters that have left! But with what I assume is a massive amount of different outcomes to track, this is just a minor point.
Really great to see Asian representation in GWJ! As someone from UTC+8, I always have difficulties finding teammates from similar timezone. A real piece of art, your team should be very proud of what you've achieved!
