If you've eaten any of the cupcakes, you can talk to the Cobra in battle to start a scene that makes the curse kick in. If you eat more cupcakes after that, then the effects of the curse increase. The amount you need to eat to get to the next stage of the curse increases with each stage but it's between 10 and 30
