It depends on what suits you. I like AGK. It has great possibilities and nothing stops me from doing exactly what I want.
Check out the Love framework, I think you'll like it better than the AppGameKit for 2D games. It allows you to export to all platforms, including PS and XBox, and it supports shaders.
