I'm pretty certain rahi has no intention of abandoning this game or the new one.
By new game I mean currently not released and still in development.

Doesn't really have a name yet but it will be a 3d version of bdcc. That seems more sandbox focused. From what I've seen it looks like it could be pretty good.
