There doesn't seem to be any way to actually get to the house before the game just decides that you didn't make it. Even when I left the creepy guy in the dust the game would cut out just before I made it to the house saying I didn't make it and even if I never turned around to look at him I'd lose too. Not sure if there's a way to make it to the house or if the player just doesn't "make it" no matter what you do.
