Okay fine let me just list all the problems with fallout 4. Let's start with the premise, fallout 4's premise follows one of two poorly voiced characters, and I say poorly voiced not because the actors didn't try, but because the script was written poorly, it seems that Bethesda that does not know what a loving couple looks like. Instead they basically wrote a couple that might as well be on the back of an AARP pamphlet. Regardless of which character you pick, you're going to go into a story follows the player character trying to find their son, which is unoriginal storytelling point, because it's just fallout 3 but in reverse. Now how is this wonderful copy pasta story told? Well in a terrible and just quite frankly awful system that for one doesn't even tell you what you're going to say, which is why one of the most popular mods of all time is just that, a UI menu that actually tells you what you're going to say, not that that it matters because everything your character could say is uninteresting so 99.99% of all players just mash the sarcastic button as soon as it appears. The what the hell is the point of the charisma system? You could literally get yourself to the point where you have 17 charisma, and still fail in easy charisma check. That's bullshit. So narratively speaking fallout's really not that great, I mean they even go so far to copy fallout 3 so hard that they just find some b******* excuse of a reason to kill your child when you do find them, except the script was written around a child who is essentially Magellan, the angel of death, serving Hitler's purpose, so it's not really all that great considering that you know the player doesn't really give a f*** about their child at that point. Imagine writing a script so bad that the player doesn't care about what is supposed to be their own child? Speaking of the script, what is the most evil thing you can do in fallout 4? Not really anything. You have the illusion of choice, unless you want to go spend $40 on a DLC. You know in fallout 3 you can blow up make a ton for money, you could buy a slave, you could go sell children into slavery, and in one such instance you can sell one child to a specific character and then find that child has died, now I saw that in the YouTube video, that last part, because that was so f****** cartoonishly evil, I had never encountered it in my entire playthroughs I'll fallout 3, it never even occurred to me that that was something that you could possibly do. You poison all the water of the wasteland so that no one can drink it. There's so many things that you can do there just extremely evil in fallout 3, you can convince a suicidal man to jump, hell you can even push him, fact you can convince him that his life worth is something, and convince them to the point that he's not suicidal and then push him. You could be a messiah where you could be Satan himself in fallout 3, and in a fallout New Vegas, You can even nuke to Nations for giggles. You can't do any of that in fallout 4. The most evil thing you can do in fallout 4 is join an evil faction or help raiders for profit, which is also the only two evil things you can do in the entire game, and one of those things, helping the institute, can be done in a way that is arguably justifiable. The game gives you ways to try to justify your own actions because the game just won't let you be fully evil. It is a roller coaster track, that basically ends up at the same place no matter what, except you can buy a different colored ticket to get there. So the narrative is just garbage all around, fact narratively speaking even fallout 76 has a better narrative and that game didn't get NPCs for 3 years. Then we got the perk system, which is one of the worst things I have ever seen, I have not seen a perk system so cartoonishly goofy and useless, since Black ops 3, let's be real in Black ops 3 everybody's getting picked it tracker perk and blind side, so that they can see people through radar and walls, because nothing says s***** like hiding in a corner. Fallout 4 is not much better, name a perk that actually makes a difference? You can't. Because you only have damage perks that are just going to get you one place faster, but the higher level you go, becomes very extremely clear that those parks are completely useless, because enemies will outregenerate any damage you do at a certain point, which is a horrible problem to have an RPG, in fact I can't think of any RPG that has the same problem, except 76 which was built off of fallout 4's assets. There's the charisma perks that sometimes work and sometimes don't. Then there's XP perks that help you level up faster. So all of those parks are horrible useless. That leaves all the critical chance perks which at the end of the day just increase damage, and make your accuracy 100%, which we've already established is useless, but it does allow you to shake up the gameplay by allowing you to press the interact button to do something slightly different than normal. One button press hinges gameplay that's not good gameplay. Then there's all the caravan parks and stuff which in an RPG is really bad because they basically replace a faction system instead with perks, allowing you to absolutely be fully hated by a faction and still somehow do trade caravan with them, that's ridiculous at best. That's just poor writing, immersion breaking is what that is. Then we get to that combat system which is primarily based on levels except the enemies level with you so you have this problem where it can take f****** hours or even days to kill one raider if you level up too far, because fallout 4 decide at a regeneration system for no f****** conceivably good reason, you know in fallout New Vegas they just made enemies harder, when you reach level 50, enemies in fallout New Vegas did have a little bit more health in a little more damage threshold, but it was capped at a certain point, and what was even better is enemies got better, they got more intelligent, they got better at dodging grenades, they got better at taking cover, they got better on roasting the player, they start using items more, they didn't just get regeneration buffs, no they actually literally got better at fighting the player themselves. So leveling system is also trash. We look at fallout 4's combat, and the regeneration system ruins that, but before we get to that point, fallout 4's combat system kind of borderlines on call of duty, it's call of duty adjacent, that actually makes it a pretty good feeling combat system, It's not super slow it's not super fast, it's just right. If you took that combat system and put it in any other game it would work, but it just does not work in fallout 4, not just because the regeneration system that is terrible and awful, but because one of the biggest stars of any combat system, the firearms, the weapons, melee, guns, explosives, terrible. Just absolutely terrible, the perks weren't built around them in any way whatsoever, and it shows, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a weapon that is not clunky or awkward or ugly. Fallout 4 has more weapon mods than any video game ever for really good reason and it's because they don't have a single good f****** weapon. Not one. I hate the 10 mm pistol, the pipe weapons are an awful idea, in fact those pipe weapons are just copy and paste laziness instead of making actual weapons, and there is whatsoever no f****** reason why we would ever need to have that many pipe weapons in a fallout game, we're not the British, firearms are f****** everywhere. You look at some of the late game weapons like the combat rifle in the combat shotgun which are both kind of borderline useless but they're just copy-paste of each other, like where is the variety in this damn game? Then there's the assault rifle which is something, I guess, cuz Bethesda apparently doesn't know how guns work. I think they should have hired obsidian to do all the guns for fallout 4, because everything they did was trash, All the guns they did look sound and feel like they were drawn by a first grader. Except a first grader would have had more variety. So we have a perk system and a weapon variety that is so terrible so poorly executed, that it makes a awesome combat system suck. The enemy variety, is actually pretty damn good in this game. You have the institute the robots and the turrets, you have The super mutants with their attack dogs and stuff, you have raiders who have a mixed mash of kind of everything, the brotherhood is still is actually great to fight too, You have the raider games of nuka world if you do want an exterminate them, Gator claws, deathclaws, like they really nailed it down by having a wide variety enemies, I really nailed down the combat system too, it's just everything else surrounding those things are completely ruined by poor execution.
The only two things fallout 4 does well, are ruined by fallout 4 god because if you took those things and put them in any other game, they'd be that much better. Baffling, fallout 4's baffling. Fallout 4 is a blank slate for a bunch of mods because only a really dedicate community could fix all of the baffling problems of this masterpiece of poor execution. Fallout 4 would literally be nothing without their mods, which is further proven by the fact that every time fallout 4 is broken on the modding scene, their player numbers and count drop massively. After they removed mods from consoles, people don't play fallout 4 on console many more generally speaking, not on Xbox and not on PS4, they just came in and wiped out entire community, so everybody's playing fallout 4 for the most part is on PC now and PC only. However Bethseda has come in and kept f****** with the fallout modding community, resulting in the large number of people quitting, resulting in further decrease in player base. More people play fallout New Vegas or fallout 3 then they do fallout 4. Hell I find more people playing fallout 1 or 2 then fallout 4. The only thing that fallout 4 has that's better than fallout 76, is price point.
Fallout 4 is an okay game, with some okay things about it, and that's being civil. Fallout 4 is a bad fallout game. You know if they removed fallout from the name of fallout 4, and instead sold it as a Garry's mod type deal, it would be game of the year, but only if they supported the modding community.
