There we have both archtectures:
For intel, try x86
Please try placing the core and ROM files inside ROMBundler/Resource.
I tested it on my old Intel Mac running Catalina, and it worked well. Take a look at the screen recording for reference:

I'm on my Apple Silicon Mac with MacOS Sierra. So I tried the above Arm download. It wouldn't open so I had to go to system preferences and make the system open it anyway. That means it's not notarized. Not too huge of an issue
But it wouldn't open once I did that. It crashed instantly during load and no error message came up
Next, I tried putting the file in the Resources and MacOS folders but it still crashed as before. Does the ROM need to be named anything specific?
I found the ROMBundler log and it says:
Failed to load core
