You mentioned that we should wait for future updates to understand Chika’s story more and I get that you’re building something long-term, but I think a lot of players feel blindsided by how things played out early on. When a character has an intimate scene with the MC and then immediately sleeps with another guy the next day, it creates a sense of emotional disconnect. Not because people expect every character to be perfect or pure, but because that kind of development feels more like a betrayal than a meaningful plot twist.
This isn’t about double standards either. It’s about the emotional consistency and trust between the player and the story. Players naturally form attachments to characters, especially in a romance-driven game. When one of the main love interests acts in a way that breaks that connection so soon after being introduced, it can feel jarring and even alienating. The MC’s past isn’t really the same comparison here because the issue is about what’s happening during the story, not before it.
Also, I know you’ve said that your game isn’t for everyone and that’s fair. But it’s worth pointing out that the reaction you're seeing might not just be toxicity. It might be people feeling genuinely misled. If the game includes scenes or themes that align more with NTR, like one of the main girls sleeping with someone else after a scene with the MC, then players should be given that context upfront through proper tags. That way, people who love those themes can enjoy the game and those who aren’t into it can respectfully move on. It’s not about censoring your story, it’s about transparency so expectations are set correctly.
As for the defense around Chika’s backstory or struggles, I totally understand that there’s more to her than we currently know and I respect that you want to show a more nuanced character. But I think it’s also valid for players to still feel hurt or disappointed by how her actions affect the MC and the tone of the story, especially when it's so early in the game and emotional connections are just starting to form. A tragic backstory doesn’t automatically excuse behavior that feels like betrayal in the moment and that’s something that deserves thoughtful writing and balance.
You’ve got talent and the game clearly means a lot to you. I just hope you give players the clarity they need to engage with it in good faith.
Keep cooking, just maybe give it a taste yourself before serving it to others.
