Something needs to change about the combat in the Underworld. Here's a list of the problems I've noticed:
1) Random encounters happen too often. I can hardly walk for more than a few seconds before I'm forced into another fight against the same unreasonably tanky enemies again and again and again.
2) The enemies are take too long to kill. Between the amount of health, their dodge chance, the fact that they get buffed after possessing a corpse, and the fighters getting a health and defense buff when they are low, it takes way too long to kill enemies for how many of them we have to fight while exploring.
3) There are too many enemies with stun moves. Any time I see a corpse carrier or a fighter, I know it's going to be an unreasonably annoying fight because I'm going to spend most of it unable to fight or heal. This is especially bad when there are multiple spiders. I have been stunned for six consecutive turns while they beat me to death because I wasn't able to do anything.
The corpse carrier's stun lasts two rounds and they can use it four times each. That is potentially 8 rounds where I cannot act for each carrier in the fight. And that's not even accounting for the fighters that knock you down and stun you as well.
4) Bernadette is nearly useless. As a ghost she can't use items which means her mana is very limited and she only has support abilities. This means you have to give her a corpse just so she can restore mana to continue healing (her healing abilities are weak as hell too). But when she has a body, she doesn't have any support abilities. She ends up being entirely useless as a ghost after two or three turns and if you don't grab her a body before the enemies get them, she is stuck as a ghost.
5) Bernadette can't do any meaningful damage without offensive magic. I understand that punching a ghost isn't going to be especially effective, but if she is a ghost then she can't even hurt the enemies. She should at least do extra damage with her basic attacks as a ghost.
Even with a body she is still pathetically weak and misses most of her attacks.
6) Bernadette's attack magic is useless against the Underworld enemies. All of her attacks except magic missile are necrotic damage and therefore highly resisted by every enemy she faces.
7) This might be the most important of all. There's no way to escape combat. You can't even surrender or cause yourself to immediately lose.
There have been times when Bernadette is the only party member still alive (because my MC got stunlocked to death) and thanks to her passive regeneration and Spiritual Guardian, she was very hard to kill. Of course, she also couldn't kill the enemies because her damage is useless, so I was locked into a fight that I couldn't escape from without reloading a save.
Please fix these things.
