maybe connect the increase in the number of tentacles and the laying of eggs? like she lays them and they start to entertain her?
That's a cool idea, tho I have no idea how to implement that visually
like she gives birth to it, the egg falls on the floor (or is caught by tentacles) it hatches and either grows, starts to entertain the mother or can crawl on the body and starts to suck milk
