Greetings everyone, I want to express my opinion about the situation that this game has become a catalyst for. Many people say that games are just games, they are harmless, because after playing GTA you don't want to kill all the people in real life. But in fact, games lead to desensitization, i.e. loss of sensitivity of certain things. And the desensitization of incest and rape is very bad, because rape is still a socially acute and significant topic, and the loss of sensitivity to the problem as a very significant one means that the solution to this problem will be delayed. In the case of murders, this is already an axiom, murder is a sin, you will go to prison for murder, and the topic of rape has only recently been established as something that deserves capital punishment and is still not fully understood. Rape is not a harmless fetish, because it implies coercion, as well as zoophilia, as well as pedophilia. Should we wait for a game about zoophilia and pedophilia now if we give this game the green light? People who support the developer and express their position by saying that FREEDOM FOR CREATIVITY, DOWN WITH MORALISTS, LONG LIVE FUN, I'm nobody to judge you. And I think I have nothing to talk about with you, and I won't be able to convince you, just like you can convince me, so you don't have to tell me which bad moralists censored your games. Have a good day everyone.
"Desensitization" happened over the years when it comes to violent movies as well. Many movies from the 70s and 80s were deemed to be to be too extreme back then and today nobody really cares. Evil Dead was banned in Germany for quite some times and now you can see it as long as you are 16 or older - even in Germany which probably has the most extreem youth protection laws one could imagine. The reason for this is that people are used to see this sort of FICTIONAL violence now so it does not shock them anymore. However they are aware that it is just a movie. The same thing does NOT apply to the real world. You won't go out, see a person ripped to shreds and say to yourself "Oh, I've seen this in Evil Dead - it does not shock me".
So as long as you are aware that this game is only telling a fictional story how could it desesitize you for real events? Both things are completely different. I mean - this is not even an actual game in which you are allowed to control your character and even though the render do look pretty good they are still far from looking real. You are basically watching a storybook with some animated scenes in it about a pretty dark story with a psychological background. So why again should I now have any more desire to go out and abuse women just because I watched a storybook about a sick kid and clicked on some choice buttons to branch inside the story?
Do you think that fictional stories cannot reflect on reality, simply because of the separation of the fictional and the real? I think so, maybe I'm wrong. It's probably not the fault of the game here, and it's just my fears that people will be indifferent to one more thing. But thank you for clarifying that it is unlikely that people will imitate the game and devalue the problem because of its demonstration.
By the way, what do you think about such a thing as the formation of tastes in games? Let's say that rape games became a hit and they started being released in batches, and this formed a new taste among the players. Comparatively like some anime girls who look and behave like small children, but they have been credited with 300 years of life, therefore porn with them is "legal", people have formed expectations and desires for this in reality. We can say that the media is not to blame, the people are to blame, but I adhere to the position that the authors themselves create their audience, that they are responsible for appropriating the audience.
Rome did not have internet and yet they committed rape by kidnapping women in the Sabines and populating their cities with homeless vagrant men. Rape has been around for centuries, and yet everyone is bitching about fictional women in a game and ignoring child marriages in third world countries. You are a rape supporter focusing on fictional characters instead of the situation in Somalia or Afghanistan. Women's rights are a joke to you and it shows.
Am I now unable to express my thoughts and opinions about fictional things and their impact simply because I am inactive or not saying things about real horrific situations? Your argument is quite radical, "if not one thing, it means absolutely the opposite," "if you don't do anything or don't mention it, it means you encourage." He has a right to exist. But to your chagrin, I'm not in a position right now to take active action for real things. I can only talk about something so small now, compared to the situations in Afghanistan or Somalia, so that maybe later I can learn to understand more complex things. I'm sorry if I offended you, and have a nice day.
So you continue to ignore real world crises in places that support forced marriage and sex slave trade because you want to focus on saving a fictional character... You devoted your energy to this, and ignored the real world rape and sex slave trade. You refuse to even face the awful tragedies occuring to this day in the real world so you can pretend you did something good here, but you in fact encouraged the proliferation of rape and child marriages by wasting time here. Even now you want to deny any responsibility as you congratulate yourself for liberating a character that doesn't exist and has no feelings outside of what is written, and draw attention away from actual sexual violence. You are a rape supporter.
