I’ll answer your questions out of order:

For the bonus question: Eventually we will add Oniku as a companion yes, it will also be part of advancing the story, or at least it is the plan.

For question 2: There will be new insects and areas, but it will take some updates until we get to that point.

For the other questions: I’m sorry to disappoint you, but the general answer would be a “no” :(. Specially the bringing insects to the cabin, as someone asked a similar question before, we do not have plans to tame or take insects “home”.
