It was, but that's part of the beauty of a relationship. After going through so many breakups, you start to see that the intensity and uniqueness of that sadness is something beautiful itself. Ultimately, it's part of the story of the relationship. In the case of the person We're Drifting Apart and We Drifted Apart are about, we're no longer dating, but we're still friends and in each other's lives in a non-trivial way. I have since moved in with another partner, and life goes on :)
