Good question! So the original version of the game was made for js13k, a game jam where you make a game that must fit completely in 13 kilobytes (ie. like 1% of a floppy disk). It lasts for a month and I'm pretty sure coming up with the name was one of that last things I did even though the game was almost 99% there after the first week. I was and had been browsing a lot of different wikipedia articles and lists of nautical/pirate word definitions and those two were some of that just sounded fun to me. Especially together as they kinda rhyme. So not much more reason behind it than that.
