I really enjoyed this update; I think you totally nailed the chapter 2 cave feel. Perfect ambiance, and the boss music is SO GOOD! Unfortunately, the game crashed every time the bat took flight (Linux version!). Not the bat boss, but the 1st stage bat, making it impossible to progress. Thankfully, I remembered the map change command from a few versions back, which allowed me to enjoy the update. I love the new boss, character, and especially the final boss area, plus the music! It totally lets you immerse yourself in the fight, and its upbeat tones once you defeat the boss are just so rewarding. I love how this game is turning out and cannot wait for the next update!

P.S. Thanks for adding a difficulty setting! The game felt just a tad bit hard for me, so this is a welcome change!

always appreciate your feedback! thanks for taking the time to check it out, and I'm glad you enjoyed :)

ah, interesting bug.
when you say 'not the bat boss, but the 1st stage bat', do you mean the first stage of the boss fight? as soon as you start the fight? I'll have to find a linux machine to test on and work out what is happening. does the game close, or freeze? did you have to fully restart the game?

I don't mean the boss area (c11) bat. The first area the character appears in after making a new game has a bat enemy. I thought it was strange it was there, as it was a really strong enemy to fight before even being taught how to attack. You showed yourself testing the bat (then normal enemy) in the f01 map, so I figured it must've been put there by accident. After a few seconds, the bat starts his air attack, but then the game crashes. The entire window just closes. Here's a video. I assume it was just a debug enemy in the f01 map, and that you just forgot to disable it in the final export. It's flight stage probably calls for an object not present in this stage, crashing the game. I see someone also commented about this issue on the windows version, so it's not just a linux port thing.

P.S. In the video the game seems to freeze, but the window fully closes. OBS just freezes the last frame once the program aborts.

aha! I'm an idiot! you are absolutely correct, I placed the bat there to get some footage for the devlog then completely forgot about it
thanks so much for letting me know, new build is up with the bat removed
