I opened the game HC and I was asked to update it. But do I need to pay again ? I'm not sure to understand

I have the same issue. It looks like it's going to force me to pay (again) for the upgrade. And I can't transfer any of my saves to the cloud because the game automatically sends me to the download screen on itch.io (it won't even let me play the non-upgraded version I already have). What's the procedure to upgrade without paying again?
