Yes and no. Or...yes and eventually yes. They're familiar because he's in a loop (remember delta in the notebook). There IS an explanation, but I haven't given it yet. We'll be getting there...probably mostly in 4, as 3 is a bit of an odd, but fun, detour (and important in its own way).
