For now only the intro cutscene gives the player some clues, but we have a prologue/tutorial planned as well as more information about the game world and the protagonist!
For now in a nutshell, Kincaid is part of an explorers guild that is tasked with surveying new planets, and she's on a mission to investigate a particularly strong signal on this jungle planet ^^
The Haven-Demo that takes place on the Haven space station also has some clues ^^
