Leonard's relationship with his mother in step 1 was very close, She was both his mother and his friend and they got along very well.

In step 2 Leonard entered his teenage phase and was no longer as attached to his mother, but nothing too difficult, they still get along well. 

Step 3 is when things get complicated, and this is not a very good time in Leonard's life. He starts arguing with his mother when she fought about him smoking, he was already more distant from her.

In step 4 he reconciles with her, becoming close to her again.

Basically.

Runie is like.. a TOTAL mamas boy. If his dad were good and stayed with them he’d be a daddys boy too. He’s just very sticky with his parents or parental figures. 

One particular scene I made with Runie and his mama was when one halloween in his old hometown he was dressed as a star, and his mama paraded him around to the neighbors and family calling him ‘her little star’, because of how much she loved him and loved seeing him shine. Would I make a dad OC for him? Probably, I freaking LOVEEE family fluff man. 

And Im glad Kathryne eventually reconciled with her mom, its not always easy but at least they have a better relationship in the future eueue TwT

İts the same with mine just their affection styles are a bit different, Jude is more attached like the kindergarteners that takes a hour to separate from parents while Fio more admires her and wants to make her proud at every chance she gets

MianMian is a child who hates giving her mother a lot of work; so that makes their relantionship in Step 1 close but rather distant, as she doesn't like to tell when she is not well, she LOVES her mother and she couldn't ask for a better mom than Opal, It's just that Opal works so much that MianMian feels alone sometimes, before moving into Golden Grove, she couldn't make any friends because she has some trouble to express herself, so most of the time, MianMian don't talk much.

It gets better when they move to Golden Grove, MianMian learns that she can tell what makes her feel bad without feeling guilt of hurting others feelings, so that makes it a little better, but It's hard breaking old habbits.

In Step 2, Opal and her ARE really close, MianMian now trusts her entirely, sure, her mom still works a Lot, but MianMian is very busy with school and being a teenager is though, It's so much changes and her friends start growing apart; so in Step 2, Opal is who she knows she will come home to, her safe spot, wich makes her feel more open towards her Mother, and feel more useful since now she can help her mom with more chores.

MianMian feels more at easy with familiarity, so they have a really strong bond at Step 3 and it doesn't changes even on Step 4!!

its good in thee hood with her mom but her god mom is another story

Ians relationship with her mom is complicated, on one hand she loathes her mother with every fiber of her being for bringing her into this world to experience the pain she has. (She also equally hates her dad who skipped out) But on the other hand she knows her mother is the only reason she is still alive right now even if she hates to admit it, and Ian hates that reality which kind of just circles back to the first reason and loops. So she begrudgingly puts up with her parent.

Mari look up to her mama, look at this amazing woman. She could do no wrong in her eyes! It goes downhill for them in step 2 because she isolates herself a lot that step. (Opposite for Kel for first 2 steps, all my Mcs love their mama in the end)

Elias was always a mama's boy but doesn't want to admit it because he thinks people will make fun of him for it ;-;
