I can't get anything to happen :( I feel like I have clicked the light switch, power button and water pump button in lots of different combinations.

As a start, using the objects you've already found, try turning on the computer with the screen first.
Your next goal is to turn on all three lights on the water pump (the device mounted on the wall). If you're stuck after that, try seeing the hint in the description above for which objects are clickable!
