Hey, I found out that was the Retro Replay turbo loader cart (or more precisely, an active RR cart image in 1541 Ultimate II+) that messes up the restore.
Should have figured that out earlier, but I can't remember when the RR has caused compatibility problems, so I totally forgot about it… until Fredrik pointed it out :-)
